FINDHelp will fill your needs for information about disabilities - whether you are a person looking for help or someone doing research. For example, if you are a new resident and need to know about social activities for a young adult with disabilities or you are looking for detailed information on post-polio syndrome or an uncommon disorder, we can help. Consider FINDHelp your gateway to all kinds of information about disabilities and services.
Disability information is presented through FINDHelp in a number of different ways. Start with the home page menu and click on one of the following topics:
SEARCH
You can search FINDHelp files using a key word approach. Enter a word that describes what you are looking for, i.e. "respite care," and click on "Search" to access a list of service providers who offer respite care. You can also select words from a disabilities menu or a services menu and FINDHelp will offer a list of service providers who support that disability or offer that service. If you want information about a specific service provider you have in mind, browse the alphabetic list of service providers and click on the organization you are searching for to find out about location, phone number, services, hours, eligibility and much more.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Here you will find a wide range of current announcements about everything from upcoming events to information on regular meetings of many disability support groups. If you want to provide information for our announcement bulletin board, just click on FEEDBACK and send us your input. We will acknowledge your request and let you know if it can be posted in FINDHelp.
CONNECT
The Internet is rich with disability information. We have collected the addresses of many home pages that should be of interest. For example, if you want to learn about the Americans with Disabilities Act, click on the Americans with Disabilities Document Center. If you know of good Internet disability sites, let us know through your FEEDBACK.
A PRIMER
Learn about meeting and interacting with people who have disabilities. What does "disability" mean? What are the different types of disabilities? Take a short course in "Disability Etiquette 201." Most of all understand that people with disabilities are just folks like you.
VOLUNTEERS
Through the support of the Rappahannock United Way, we are publishing many volunteer needs of our disability service providers. Volunteers can sign up directly by phone or electronic mail using information from the VOLUNTEER page.
There is a great volume of disability information exchanged among people and organizations in our community. Using the FINDHelp ELECTRONIC MAIL directory, you can contact disability service providers through our electronic mail link.
FEEDBACK
We have designed FINDHelp based on community input. But disabilities information is dynamic and we will continue to expand and improve FINDHelp; so we ask for your feedback.
